Pesticide cocktail and mineral oil contamination in fruit mueslis

[Translate to Englisch:] Pestizidanalytik in Früchtemüsli

In the current issue of the magazine Ökotest, fruit mueslis were put under the microscope.

Traces and contamination by pesticides were repeatedly found. The discovery of pesticides that are not authorised for use in the EU, such as famoxadone, chlorpyrifos, propargite and others, makes the whole thing explosive. The sad record is 31 pesticides in one muesli pack.
The origin of the contamination is suspected to be in the added dried fruit. In a processed product, however, the exact cause needs to be analysed and evaluated by an experienced laboratory.

In addition, the fruit mueslis have repeatedly been found to be contaminated with mineral oil components. These consist of saturated (MOSH) and aromatic (MOAH) hydrocarbons. In order to prevent this in the future and to determine where the contamination originates, a precise process analysis is required. It is conceivable both in the packaging and through the lubricating oils used in the manufacturing process.

As an established laboratory with expertise in the analysis of pesticides and a leader in the analysis of mineral oil components, we are competently at your side for rapid identification of the sources of contamination and holistic process validation.
