2-MCPD, 3-MCPD and Glycidyl fatty acid Esters: determine their presence in food products

Speaker: B.L.  Anger, Supervisor Contaminants

2-MCPD, 3-MCPD and their fatty acid esters are chemicals formed during the industrial process of Hydrolyzed Vegetable Proteins (HVP), especially during the high-temperature refining deodorization step. EFSA’s 2018 scientific opinion (updated 2016 opinion) reviewed them as safe for most consumers. However, they can have a “potential health concern among high consumers in younger age groups”.

During this webinar entitled “2-MCPD, 3-MCPD and Glycidyl fatty acid Esters: determine their presence in food products” the following items will be covered:

  • How do they form during the industrial processes;
  • What is the current regulation;
  • What are the matrices involved;
  • What are the efficient ways to determine their presence in food

Join us on February 25, 2021 from 11:00AM to 12:00PM (CET) to attend our free webinar and address your questions directly to our experts.
