Detecting horsemeat using real-time PCR

Detecting horsemeat using real-time PCR is well established in the range of services offered by the Institut Kirchhoff Berlin GmbH. The semi-quantitative determination occurs on the basis of DNA extraction using real-time PCR on meat samples obtained during preparation.

The procedure is accredited under the framework of flexible accreditation in accordance with DIN ISO/IEC 17025:2005. When carrying out a legal interpretation of the results, it is essential to differentiate between the presence of traces and relevant proportions.
