The Berliner Tafel has been in existence since 1993. A large number of volunteers support the distribution of food to over 300 social institutions and 45 distribution points in Berlin, which are then made available to needy Berliners and the homeless.
Institut Kirchhoff Berlin GmbH has been providing food and sweets for the Berliner Tafel on a regular basis for many years and wants to send a clear signal against poverty and food waste. Regardless of this, the management of Institut Kirchhoff Berlin GmbH also supports this great idea of the Berliner Tafel financially with donations and would like to make a small contribution to supporting people in need.
Further information on the Berliner Tafel can be found at Berliner Tafel e.V., Berlin.
SOS Children's Village Berlin
The SOS Children's Village was established in 1949 by the medical student Hermann Gmeiner, who wanted to provide a new home to war orphans left behind by the Second World War with the very first SOS Children's Village. Today, the German SOS-Kinderdorf e.V. supports 129 institutions in 43 countries.
SOS Children's Villages is particularly active in Berlin Moabit for families with a migration background and deprived children. With the establishment of an Embassy for Children, an education and meeting centre, SOS Children's Villages supports young people in their professional orientation and qualification processes, who are otherwise unable to compete on the education market due to language difficulties, inadequate school education or learning deficits.
In the Embassy for Children, young people are given the opportunity to complete their training, e.g., as chef, professionals in the hospitality industry and clerks in office management. They learn how events are organised and implemented under real working conditions at the ROSSI training restaurant or at the Embassy for Children's Conferences.
The employees of the Institut Kirchhoff Berlin GmbH are regularly convincing themselves of the culinary delights of the ROSSI training restaurant in the immediate vicinity and are becoming regular guests.
